“Earth is crammed with heaven and every bush aflame with God, but only those who see take off their shoes.”               Maya Angelou – Poet

Both myself and my wife of 46 years have, since our youth, been afflicted with a life-long disorder.  Our children recognize our condition and realize that they are also afflicted.  Outdoor Deficit Disorder or better known as ODD causes uncontrollable compulsions to allocate large quantities of time and other resources to recreating in and enjoying the natural world.

We have named our blog Northwest Trek because most of our stories have been lived in the Pacific Northwest (including Alaska) and our trek could be defined as our journey which contains some pretty ODD stories and some not so ODD.

Our stories are likely to be about 4-wheeling, fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, boating, avalanche control, skiing, or family.  We aren’t really into rock climbing, sky diving or bungee jumping —–yet.
